The practice of yoga is a psycho-somatic experience and has a significant impact on mental health. This weekend will be the first of many yoga and mental health workshops.

This introductory weekend will explore:

Psycho-somatic influence of Yoga
Exercise, nutrition, and mental health
Stress, what is it and how to neurologically manage
Common mental health conditions and diagnosis and adaptive yoga principles for management and balance.
Address the stigma of mental health care
Nervous system simplified
Information for health care providers to utilize with clients
Sociology, communication, and boundaries
Self-care, how to use the weekend information for yourself

The mental health industry is turning to the field of Yoga Therapy more and more as a sustainable and complementary tool to traditional modes of treatment.

Lindy M.A., C-IAYTI, E-RYT 500 has been an educator in the field of psychology and yoga for nearly 2 decades, she takes a passionate and professional approach to these sciences.

Lori Lauridsen is a 290CYT graduate of Yoga University of Florida, has been teaching yoga both in the community and at psychiatric facilities for the past 5 years and began her yoga journey more than 15 years ago. Lori is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Masters Level Addiction Professional that has been providing education, healing and therapy for groups and individuals for over 12 years. Lori’s passion is combining science and holistic practices to help others heal mind, body, and spirit. Lori is specifically focused on yoga therapy as healing for addiction and mental illness and has a level 1 certification with Warriors at Ease, an evidence-based program designed for veterans. Lori is also a practitioner and teacher of Acro yoga, a practice that marries acrobatics, yoga and Thai massage. Lori is committed to growing in her own practice and sharing her knowledge with her students through classes, workshops, individual and group therapy.
