Part 1: Support the Spine
A neutral spine is the least stressed, most resilient position for the spine. Learn about the anatomy and function of the spine so you can develop healthy movement patterns and avoid aggravating activities, on your mat and in your daily life. In part 1, we will go over the 4 curves of the spine and their functions, the muscles of the core that support the spine, and how to move through asana with those principles in mind. Certain yoga poses can be contraindicated for those with back pain, so we will go over different modifications and variations of poses. Yoga can be an amazing tool when dealing with back pain, especially when you combine a fundamental knowledge of anatomy with self-awareness and self study of your body and mind.
